How to decrease RAM used by Radeon Vega 8 onboard GPU?

Spoiler

I just buy a new Vostro 14 3405 for my sister. It comes with AMD Ryzen 5 3500U (with Radeon Vega 8 onboard GPU). My concern here is the VGA using 2GB of system RAM (out of 8GB RAM). Is there anyway to reduce it? I have already updated system BIOS to the latest but still cannot find any settings to change it.

(My sister only uses Word, Excel and watches YouTube on Chrome, not playing video games or using any graphics-intensive apps so she does not need that much of VRAM for VGA.)

Welcome to the Dell Community @Norton W

Unlike most HP laptops Dell does not have an option to adjust the Shared Video memory.

Since your laptop has 2 slots you could add another 4GB.

    Vostro 3405 Service Manual:

    https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/vostro-14-3405-laptop/vostro_3405_sm/removing-the-memory-modules?guid=guid-8d9e4b36-b079-4724-b814-14d33641a05b&lang=en-us

But until then you could also increase the "Virtual Memory"

Especially if you have an SSD installed, although an HDD will work.

If "Memory Usage" becomes to high then the system can use "Virtual Memory" to compensate for the low amount of physical memory.

    Best regards,

    U2

Thanks for your reply, I had added another 4GB RAM when buying the machine, just hope that Dell would add this setting to BIOS in the future.
