Internet slow when D3100 dock plugged in

I have been using a Dell D3100 dock to connect two monitors to a Vostro P130G for around a week now, and my wi-fi connection has slowed to a crawl. When the USB is disconnected I get a download speed of 12mbps, when it is connected I get 3.6, or sometimes as low as 1. I have confirmed that I have the latest drivers for the dock and my laptop. Connecting via ethernet is not a possibility, so I need a fix for this - really not sure why a docking station should affect wireless speed at all.

I faced the same issue with D3100 dock, but it was with another laptop. Turns out this can happen with any USB 3.x device (like the dock) and any connection using the 2.4Ghz band (like wifi, or bluetooth). You can read more about it here . To fix this you can move the laptop as far away from the docking station as possible (which is what I did). You can also swith your wifi to the 5GHz band if your devices suppport it
