Mass Storage Controller/Dell Update failure
Hi all,
I've ended up going the rabbit hole since I tried to upgrade to the latest Windows 10 (1903). It wouldn't install. A troubleshoot showed that my Mass Storage Controller isn't working, and probably not even installed.
Windows couldn't identify the device or find a driver, so I came to DELL.
'Dell Detect' identified my Laptop but can't suggest a single driver.
So I tried downloading a 'Dell Update' from one of the pages (maybe an old 2017 one). It downloaded and installed but failed to run.
What can I do? Is this 9 year old Vostro 1720 laptop just impossible to sort out?
Thanks
John

@Johniwhite
Many think that setting “Adjust for Best Performance”will affect the appearance of videos, games etc.
The only thing it adjusts is the desktop appearance and other similar screens.

Hi U2,
I had some of those settings applied--but I retained 'font smoothing.'
I've adjusted the virtual RAM as you said. Was 2069MB or so, now it's 4-5000MB. I'll see how that goes. My hard drive has huge space on it, no files of mine stored at all.
Thanks for this (and for your reply to my other touchpad post)

Welcome to the Dell Community @pauldeloy
If you would have taken the time to read through the posts you would see it was solved with the correct driver.
The one you posted is incorrect.
The correct one can be found here.
O2Micro OZH24 SD/MMC Host Controller, v.2.0.09, A01

You are correct. I had two forums opened at the same time and posted on this one by mistake. But thanks for the snarky response. Much appreciated.
