Original Dell battery Check

I have the same problem. The retailer said it is an original Dell battery (MSY1K) but I am suspicious as the Dell name has been covered over with a black sticker. The code under the QR is

KR-ZCLNSO-CHVQOK3F-DLRK-A00. It also has a barcode sticker of WWS202606.

I’d guess that the attempt to disguise the OEM name is an indication that it is not as described. Can anyone confirm, please?

@Celticjam Here are the OEM part numbers for batteries compatible with the Vostro 3568:

07G07 BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,SDI Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
78V9D BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,SANYO Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
7PY0D BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,LGC Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
991XP BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,LGC Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
FJCY5 BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,SANYO Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
GN7V6 BTRY,PRI,47WHR,4C,LITH,SIMPLO Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
GR437 BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,SMP Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion
VN3N0 BTRY,PRI,40WHR,4C,LITH,SIMPLO Battery, 4 Cell, Lithium Ion

These are all effectively the same, just different manufactures. As an example of the PPID under the QR code, it should be something like KR-0VN3N0-#### etc...

Of the info you have provided, it doesn't seem to match any of our information.

Can you confirm the model of your system? I suspect this may not be a genuine Dell battery. While it seems you do have a PPID, it looks incorrect. You can refer to this article for the PPID breakdown, but in short, this one should start with KR-0#####. There is always a 0 before the actual part number. Searching for MSY1K does not return any parts on our end either, though I suspect thats because its not the actual part number.

Thank you for your prompt reply Daniel. It is much appreciated. My system is a Vostro 15-3568. I have just purchased this ‘new’ battery and it arrived today, as diagnostics were showing my OEM battery to be on its last legs! That’s why I was trying to buy a supposedly original OEM part to compliment my system as I’ve been stung before with fake batteries on other systems.

Thank you for this. After investigating further it would appear to be a Chinese website pretending to be in the UK and others have had counterfeit batteries sent.  As they say, ‘buy cheap, buy twice’, so lesson learnt. Buy direct from the manufacturer in future!
