Refresh Rate Stuck At 30Hz

I have 2 Dell U2723QE monitors hooked up to my 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro.

My refresh rate is stuck at 30 Hz and my screen and my mouse are choppy and laggy.

When I adjust the display settings to the largest text possible, then the refresh rate option of 59.88Hz pops up. Selecting that makes me screen and mouse feel normal.

But then the screen is bigger? I'd prefer the default.

Is there a way to still use the default setting or does my computer not support that?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm not the best with this stuff.

AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4GB

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536MB

It's possible that the default refresh rate of 60Hz is not being recognized by your Macbook Pro or the monitors. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

  1. Update your Macbook Pro's graphics drivers: Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update and make sure your Mac is up to date. You can also check the Apple website for any graphics driver updates.

  2. Check your cable connections: Make sure your HDMI or DisplayPort cables are securely connected to both your Macbook Pro and the monitors.

  3. Try a different cable: If you're using an HDMI cable, try switching to a DisplayPort cable, or vice versa. Sometimes different cables can make a difference.

  4. Check the monitor settings: Make sure the monitors are set to the correct input and the correct refresh rate. You can usually access these settings through the monitor's on-screen menu.

  5. Reset the PRAM and NVRAM: Shut down your Macbook Pro, then hold down the Command + Option + P + R keys while turning it back on. Keep holding the keys until you hear the startup sound twice, then release them. This will reset the PRAM and NVRAM, which can sometimes fix display issues.

If none of these solutions work, it's possible that your Macbook Pro may not support a 60Hz refresh rate with your monitors. In that case, you may need to adjust the text size or use the 59.88Hz refresh rate for optimal performance.
