Vostro 15 3568 webcam stopped working

Question

Hi, the integrated webcam on my Vostro 15 3568 (Windows 10 Pro) has stopped working. I've read and goggled everything possible I have found and tried almost all of the suggested fixes (except the ones where you need to take apart the laptop).

Cameras/Integrated Webcam in Device Manager only show as when you choose 'Show hidden devices' from the View options for Device Manager. The properties for the Integrated Webcam reads:
Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45).
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. (noting I'm not sure how a normal user is supposed to do that).

Also within Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers, there's an option for an 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)'. And if you check the properties for that it reads:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

And finally, if you choose Camera from the start button, the error comes up "We can't find your camera" and then gives that standard error of 'Check to make sure it's connected an installed properly" (which I'm not really sure how a normal user would do so). And Dell's webcam central app shows as 'No supported webcam'.

I've had an expert computer services person work on it for hours and he couldn't figure it out either. There doesn't seem to be a driver for the webcam on the laptop any longer (despite all the normal uninstalls of this and that recommended) and we cannot find any webcam driver for the Vostro 15 3668 posted on the Dell site (which we've read a lot of users have the same problem).

And if it's a problem caused by windows 10 and the dell webcam, then I've read many requests for an update/patch/fix for this and am eager for the update.

Thank you for your message. Seems like this could be an issue with the hardware, the webcam itself could be faulty here. There is no driver in particular as this is part of the native driver.

Please try creating a new user account by following this link http://bit.ly/2M2UIo8 & check if the camera is detected.
