Vostro 15 5510 — Type C Charging
I've read the product specification pages and i see that the port supports power delivery and the laptop can be charged by type-c charger. The same fact was verified by our dell supplier that he suggested that i buy the type-c compatible charger for it. But the question (end of thread) wasn't answered by any of the pages, manuals, pdf's related to my office laptop.
| I have a mobile phone, with a type-c 125W charger. I know that these kind of chargers can modulate/regulate per device the output to the device you connect and i see from the specs page that the type-c on my office laptop supports power delivery up to 130W (!!) |
And to the question :
Can i use my phone charger to charge the office laptop for e.g. while traveling ?
Thank you in advance.

I have the twin brother (almost identical) Inspiron 5510 and, at least in my version without dGPU, it is possible to charge with a smartphone adapter from 25W, although this power is only enough for light tasks.
Any slightly heavier charge will cause the battery to start discharging.
Even if you use a 100 or 130W type C charger the system only charges up to 65W.
You can use your phone charger, but usually the standard of these USB-C charger is 20V/5A.
I don't know if yours specifically will deliver all 65W for your Vostro.
