Vostro 3490 , does it have 8th generation processor?
Hi everyone,
I have bought Dell Vostro 3490 laptop with Ubuntu 18.04 LTE recently.
And I was very surprised when I tried to launch 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' from a terminal:
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 142
model name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz
Pay attention to the fifth line, it shows that the laptop has Intel processor of the 8th generation instead of 10th.
It has 'intel CORE i5 10th GEN' sticker in the right corner . I don't know how to explain this fact. Does anybody know?

Check the BIOS setup for the exact CPU installed. If your cpuinfo isn't up to date -- and remember this is a very new CPU -- it's not uncommon for the process to mis-identify CPUs is isn't coded to detect properly.
F2 at powerup to check at the hardware level; it does not appear the 3490 and clone Inspiron 3480 are available with older CPUs.

Thanks for your answer.
I have checked CPU version in the BIOS Setup. You are right , it is Intel i5-10210U CPU.
Ubuntu 18.04 LTE shows CPU version not correctly.

After updating Ubuntu 18.04 LTE started showing the correct CPU information:
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep 'model name' | uniq
model name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10210U CPU @ 1.60GHz
