Office Konfiguration after Login

Question

Hi,

many users have that problem after login in to VDI, that after start of an Office Application the Office Konfiguration starts and take some minutes to complete.

After that Office can be used.

But is there a way avoid this ? Because we are using MetaProfils is there any Reg-Key etc. for that, which we can store in to Profiles ?

Hi,

Have you confirmed that your MetaProfiles setting is both capturing and setting that registry key correctly. When you log in open regedit and verify the key value is correct. Logout and then login again and confirm the value has not changed.

If this is working correctly then there must be another reason you are seeing the configuration screen, you would need to identify the reason and then have MetaProfiles save the registry key value on logoff.

Hi Attiq,

What part of the MS Office configuration is the user being prompted to complete, is it email setup or specifying their name?

This article includes the registry key locations for many of the MS Office configuration settings, it is based on 2007 version but I am sure many of these are still valid in later versions. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc837949(v=office.12).aspx

If you are able to screenshot what the user sees then I may be able to help you further,

Hi Attiq,

Have you tried setting this registry value:

Let me fix it myself

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then select Run.
In Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run.
Type the following command, and then press Enter:

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
Verify that the problem is resolved.
