'the extended attributes are inconsistent' running elevated app with PNTOOLS
7.2.0.414
HI!
After upgrading to version 7.2 and pntools 7.2.0.414 I get an error saying 'the extended attributes are inconsistent' when running an application requiring elevation. After downgrading to version PNTOOLS 7.1.360 (skipping version 7.1.369 because of other problems) it works again.
I'm seeing this on one of our VDI machines now as well. VDI machine is running PNTools version 7.2, and had 7.1 on there at one time. We're having an issue with Universal Printing where sometimes jobs fail to print to the client printer in their entirety. The VDI machine becomes completely unresponsive as a result. I had to power it off and back on instead of restarting it (no other choice), and when I later went to turn on diagnostic logging in the Quest UP client (or do anything else on the VDI machine that required elevation), consent.exe faults and I get the pop-up about extended attributes. Anybody find another way aside from disabling the UAC? That's not an option for us. I am thinking about uninstalling and re-installing PNTools later, but not sure that will help.
After some testing, another workaround discovered is instead of disabling UAC is to Disable Bidirectional Audio on the Desktop Group. This should also prevent the error from occurring.
To disable Bidirectional Audio on the Desktop Group
1. In the vWorkspace Management Console, expand the “vWorkspace Farm” | “Locations” | “Location1” | “Desktops”
2. Right Click on the “Desktop” group where the VDI’s that experience this issue are located and select “Properties”
3. In the Computer Group Properties window select the “Enhanced Audio” tab
4. Set the “Enable support for vWorkspace enhanced bidirectional audio” to “Disabled”

What application do you want to run elevated?
