0x0000008E Stop error question and solutions removed by Dell!!
So, I guess Dell feels threatened by the helpful suggestions that a couple of kind users were willing to post.
Now the links they posted are gone and I am back at square one.. No explaination, no email...
Thanks Dell, you are showing your true colors..
I will never purchase one of your products...

8E errors are usually driver related, and can be any driver or software installed on the PC than can cause this, there are no easy fixes for this particular error.
You will have to use Microsoft debugging software to analyze the dump file created during the bsod.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263
There is a Microsoft utility that will run in Windows to do this reading of the minidump file if the system will still boot into Windows.

I have been keeping a list of Dell knowlege base article links for years, and have never seen one for any specific 8E error solutions, only general articles about blue screen error documents that mention 8E errors like this one. It shows up under "Troubleshoot Common Blue Screen Error Messages"

Thanks for the reply.
The description of my problem was quite involved beyond the 0x0000008E STOP BSoD. I actually can not boot into Windoze at all. Safe Mode, last good config, etc nothing works.
I was able to do what the first poster told me to do (bootable repair disk) and I have a plan figured out for that..
The second poster had a link to where I could request OS reinstallation CD's from Dell and that is the link I would have liked to use. I'm sure a search on the Dell site will get me there eventually..
I will keep your links to the debugging info in mind (assuming Dell doesn't delete this post as well!!). My first goal is to secure the files that would be lost in a clean re-install. After that I may try to find the root cause and the MS debugging app might be useful..
Thanks (not to Dell, presumably)

I took at look to see why the posts were removed, and it appears your colorful reference at the end to the Recovery Console is the reason it was pulled (a language use violation of the TOS).
Tgsmith posted a link to the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows (www.ubcd4win.com) and Ron posted the link to requesting reinstallation disks from Dell. If you need it, I'm sure Tgsmith would be happy to repost here the information he provided before.
