Access Denied after moving a file

Question

I am being denied access to my files after moving them to another folder on the same disk. All file types or in any folder. These files arn't encrypted to secure data. and another message was: Cannot move File: Access is Denied Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently not in use. There isn't a security tab in these files.

All my files show a security tab. What type of files are the ones on your system that don't? Do you have XP Home edition? If so did you go into safe mode as it says in Denny's link?   Or you can use this, to see the security tab in normal mode in XP Home,   http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_home_sectab.htm

They are .pdf, .mp3, and .bmp and I have Windows XP Profesional. I tried to go to Safe Mode and log in as administrator and that didn't work.

I figured it out. The security tab wasn't showing up in my user account. It showed up when I went into safe mode and I was able to add my user account to the files. I think the problem happened when I changed the name of my user account.

...and deleted another. The problem was still happening when I moved a file from one folder to another so that I would have to do the ownership thing again. Now I found out that when I right clicked on 'my computer' and then clicked on 'manage' then click on 'local users and groups' then double click on 'users' then double click on 'backup operators'. If your user account name is not there click 'add' and type your user account name into the box and click 'ok'. Now The problem doesn't happen to me anymore.
