Access denied in Windows Explorer...

Question

In Vista's Windows Explorer I am unable to access folders that display a shortcut icon. These include Local Settings, My Documents, Recent, SendTo, Start Menu and others. When I click on the folder the following error message appears:   'Location is not available. C:\Users\myname\My Documents is not accessible. Access is denied.'   I'm the Administrator (and only user) on my computer.   mccd

what was your solution? I have been able to give myself permission and do most things, but here and there I have been locked out.    although adm, and sole user, I still did not have permission to get an update of winzip. for example.
