Access Denied Why?

I tried Vista, got so sick of these types of messages, I went back to XP. When XP is dead I will be moving to MAC or Linux, sorry Microsoft, but Vista is one horrid piece of software.

 

Evidently the permissions on those folders have you locked out.

You probably have to go in the account settings and make some adjustments. I now I had to I don't know exactly what screen to go to because I am at work. Hopefully some of the people will be ablle to guide thru that have their Vista PC in front of them. All I know is I did have to change some settings around as the defaults don't allow access to much.

Your " My Documents",   " My Pictures", "My Music" and "My Videos" are no longer true folders in the Vista operating system but are just Links to the new locations " Documents", "Pictures", "Music", and "Videos". These folders are under C:\Users\Your_user_name\ and are no longer under C:\Documents and Settings\Your_user_name\

 

The old titled links ( My Whatever ) are just there for compatability with older applications etc.... There is nothing in those they are just links to the new locations in the user directory.

 

This is by design and there is nothing wrong with the system.

I too noticed these folders following the installation of some older apps. I assumed that these were created by the OS for the reasons you mentioned but I wasn't completely sure. Thanks for the confirmation.

 

Just love Vista. I didn't wait for Dell's upgrade CD but rather purchased a retail Vista Ultimate. Did quite a bit of research prior to taking the plunge and I guess it paid off. I did a Clean Install and followed up with the Vista drivers which I downloaded from Dell. Everything is working perfectly. A few minor glitches with the Sigmatelstac drivers (and no AudigyMB software) but after following the workaround for the "skipping" problem, this too has been resolved. Hopefully Dell & Creative can produce a Vista compatible AudigyMB solution before too long.
