Acrobat

Acrobat 5 is installed on my computer now.    I want to upgrade to the newest version.    Is it best to uninstall it and re-install the latest version,   or is is advisable to install  the new one over the existing one?

Thanks.

CdePizan,

The newer version does not install over an existing version, it installs as a separate entity. To conserve disk space I delete the older versions, but doing so is not required.

Does that mean that I should just uninstall the old one first,   then start over with the new version?   Is that the right sequence?

Thanks.

CdePizan,

It's your choice. The installation of 7.0 will proceed whether or not 5.0 is still on the hard disk.

CdePizan,

I found it necessary to uninstall Acrobat 5 manually. There are directions on the website for a "manual removal".

Acrobat 6 turned out to be an incredible resource hog. I uninstalled 6 within one month of use. I found that I needed to uninstall 6 manually as well.

I have not yet bothered to reinstall any Adobe products. Currently the only thing on my computer from Adobe is the Download Manager. I kept it because I think that it will be useful in the future. I expect to reinstall version 5. 5 was all that I needed. Version 6 was a nightmare.

Tony,    Thanks for this info;   I'll keep it in mind in case 7 doesn't seem right.     I have 5 & 7 on my system now,   I'm not sure if you were referring to 7,   as the one that uses too much space?
