I ordered CDs from the UK very easily. I started with online chat support. They rang me!! and then put me thorugh to the correct person. The CDs arrived within the week.

That locked thread, where you fill out a form to get the disks.......it seems to be applicable to the USA only. There isn't an option to input another country, like Ireland where I live. Hello? People outside the USA buy Dells too!

The sticky only addressed the "requesting" issue... I didn't see a mention of a new policy of actually shipping the disk(s) with the machine.

 

So, you've actually purchased a new machine and the disks were there?

I have 2 new Dell computers and they both came with the Vista

install DVD an Inspiron 1501 & an Dimension  E 521

not sure about if you buy one with XP it may not come with the computer!!

Unless you are a computer IT person, Leave Vista in the box. I have found it very unstable. It is slow opening programs ie. windows explorer.The software Dell shipped on the thing wouldn't run on it. (Roxio, it was interfering somehow and giving a constant error message). There are still problems with the Logic web cam. Windows explorerer constantly finds some sort of problem and retstarts itself. I have found simple manuals wriiten on CD's can't be opened and read with it, but they can be read on XP. And so far Dell has been less then helpful, other then to offer to sell me XP for a price that is greater then they are selling Vista for. Go figure.
