ADD REMOVE PROGRAM TOGGLE MISSING
The Add Remove programs box no longer has the toggle that typically resides there to allow you to remove the listed program. You open ADD/REMOVE Programs and the lines are there but no toggle EXCEPT for just recently added programs. Also the programs appear to be listed in a sort of non-discriptive shorthand and a lot of the icons appear to be very generic (a screen with a CD superimposed in the lower left corner). The "Rarely" used indication is there, as is the size, but that's it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like you deleted some of the programs manually instead of using the Add/Remove program, that is why Add/Remove still has record of the program, but can't find it (why you can't remove it and why the icon/description is vague).
A registry cleaner will remove those programs from the add/remove list. Otherwise you can do it manually in the registry by removing the missing programs from [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall]

Assuming kittois ran the registry edit correctly, that did not help.
The programs still exist and execute without any problems. There must be some corruption in there that we have not been able to find.

kittois,
I am having this exact same problem with my computer exactly as you describe that your having; exept, I can't even remove newly added items there nothing in my add/remove programs that i can remove.
I have contacted a Comp. Tech member an they told me that they have never heard of this problem before an will get back to me if they find something out or come up with a solution to fixing this; this was 3weeks ago i had contacted them and have heard nothing back yet.

Maybe I'm the culprit -- in any event I just "unchecked" the accepted solutions icon

I'm not sure what happened to this thread -- I thought that maybe the July 4th Holiday slowed things down but now I notice that there is an "accepted solution" which appears to be erroneuosly attached to a subsequent post by someone having a similar and still not solved problem.
Any thoughts?
