Alt + Tab not working properly?

I recently purchased a Dell Vostro 1000, with Windows XP Home, I've never had this problem on any other computer so I figured I would post it here. When I hit Alt+Tab to switch windows, the window switcher screen disappears after a second or two, and sometimes it immediately disappears. It's really frustrating, and I have no idea why this is happening. If anyone else has had the same problem, and knows a solution, it would be appreciated.

BitSlave, it sounds more like you have a bad install of Windows for some reason. Typing definitely shouldn't be delayed unless there's something taking up the entire CPU, or the drivers aren't working. The video problem also sounds like bad drivers. You might want to just try reinstalling Windows.

Hi, I fixed my problem reseating the keyboard, although, the instruction manual says that you have to do just what you wrote, prior to open it. So now i am not sure if that was in fact the solution.
