GSchept180, I have the same exact problem.  The only way I found to work around that is to reboot  and restart AOL.  Its annoying

I believe I know why now,  Every now and then when exiting AOL I noticed on my Sygate firewall running applications log that "AOL connectivity Service" does not end when exiting AOL.  When this application is still running while trying to sign on using my broadband the connection hangs.  Tryed terminating "AOL connectivity Service" then trying to sign on again but the application does not terminate.  Only way to get back online threw AOL is to reboot which clears "AOL connectivity Service"

I tried restarting the computer and then restarting AOL but it still gets stuck on the TCP/IP (step 2)

Look in your firewall software program if you use one and make sure your not blocking any aol services.  Maybe try to reset your firewall rules so your promt on anything trying to access your network again, just a thought.  Since your IE lets your get online, possably could be the aol software.

The solution to this is to open Internet Connections and check Never Dial a Connection. AOL is looking for a dialup connection instead of cable. Don't use the AOL dial up shortcut, just open a browser window and go to www.AOL.com and sign in.

One solution would be to go back to 8.0 Plus.

Sorry, that's not much help. I found this site with a suggested fix (delete and rebuild the Automatic Connection Script (ACS) files):

Please post back if that works.
