Applications freeze after installing Norton SystemWorks 2003

I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I installed Norton Systemworks 2003 and after the system rebooted, I couldn't access any of my applications-total system freeze. With Dell peripheral suport, I was able to refresh my system, however, the Systemworks installation is currently disabled in the computer registery. Experiences/advice appreciated.

I would try Add/Remove programs in the control panel and remove NSW 2003.

Then I would re-install AFTER MAKING SURE that all running programs were closed.

Thanks. Actually when the system froze, I couldn't get into the control panel as I wanted to uninstall it. The rep. told me that Norton is still in the system somewhere, just disabled. Also, I did make one alteration from the defaults in the set up where I chose a "full protection" or similar vs. the "typical set up" default. I wonder if that was part of the problem.

Don't even try to install Norton again unless you have to so you can uninstall it. Instead, go to the Symantec support site and get instructions for completely uninstalling it. With XP, Norton causes more problems than it solves. Just use the Antivirus and skip the rest.

Thanks for the tip Mary...sounds like good advice as I'm nervous about doing anything else with the SystemWorks after my first problem + it cost $51 in tech support to clear up.
