Audio Question

Check the Volume Control panel and make sure the Volume Control sliders for the various sound types are at least half way up (all the way down is off).

Otherwise, you will have to define what type of videos you have. (e.g. from DVD's, from streaming internet video, etc).

Yeah, I have tried all of that.  I am playing DVD movies.  I have sound when I am streaming video and I have sound when I am playing mp3s.  It's just DVD's.  Any suggestions?

If you are getting sound in one player (the DVD player) then you should be getting sound in the others as basically the same codec's, audio paths, etc are being used.

However, I have run across some problems where one program is causing others to not operate correctly and one of those "bad" programs has been RealPlayer.  I don't know if that is your problem but one suggestion I have is to uninstall RealPlayer, restart Windows and then see if the WMP will work OK.  I had a problem with my own PC where audio from the web would not play on my PC and it turned out RealPlayer was the cause.  I've fixed several customers PC's with varyuing audio problems that also turned out to be either RealPlayer or Quicktime causing the problem.  If you also have Quicktime installed that is another "problem" program.

Make sure that you have accessed the WMP control panel and checked all the file types you want it to play.  Also, open the audio control panel by double clicking it and make certain that no functions are muted.  Open the advanced button and see that the balance sliders are properly positioned.
