Backing Up In Windows XP

Can anyone offer some advice for backing up files under windows xp.  In my particular situation, I have a wireless network with access to any of the other computers (with plenty of hard drive or re-writeable CD space available.)  I'd like a fairly automated process (in other words, me-proof) so that the routine would run on its own without me having to be responsible.  Help!

And if it's really not all that practical, can you suggest some shareware or other low cost program to use for this purpose?

Thanks

You can use NTBackup, it's free and works well , If you  take the time to understand it.

You have to install it:

Insert the XP or Rescue CD, and  run NTBACKUP.MSI  program
from the folder D:\valueadd\msft\ntbackup

You can get a copy here:

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work . It will NOT backup to a CD. You can back up to a folder on your
hard drive then burn it to a CD.   The native program in XP will not span CD's though.

Here is how to use it;

Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R Devices [Q315255]

You can trick it with a packet writing program like Roxio Direct CD & Drag and Drop (comes with Easy CD Creator ) Or Nero InCD or Sonic DLA You then use a CD ( will not Span cd's) or DVD's   (4.7+ gb)  to back up to though.

Do a Google Search for a program called Second Copy 2000.  Automated, Flixible, and does a lot for the cheap price of $20.

Thanks for your reply.  I have reviewed the web site you suggested and am hunting for my XP CD!

Thanks for your help.  I'm going to try NTBack Up, and if that fails, try the software you recommended.
