baffled since automatic upgrade

After the last windows automatic upgrade my desktop icons where smaller (which I corrected) & my browser pages have shrunk to half the normal size. although the window fills the monitor, the content, which normally filled the screen now only occupies half of it. Sometimes the content is centered with white area's on either side or the content is on the right with the remaining half of the screen white. I tried system restore but it doesn't work. I could use the magnify feature but would love to have things back the way it was 2 days ago.

Next suggestion:

Right-Click on Desktop, go to Properties... Select Settings? Tab

Now... Adjust Screen Resolution and see if that helps.

I am just fishing here!!!

I just had a similar post under Alaskafish.  You had the Intel chipset update?  I used a restore point prior to the download and everything is back to normal.  However, I don't know how to stop this automatic download.  Hope someone has a way to block a particular update.

Thanks!  I did a new update scan and found the pesky Intel chipset update again but found that if I right click on that particular item and select "hide" update, it no longer shows up in subsequent scans.  Life is good.

I always set Windows to notify me to download and install updates.

This way I have full control as to what gets installed and when.

I run Folding@Home 24/7, so... if I let Windows update itself and restart while I am away, I could lose my Work Units... and THAT is a no no for me ;)

Peace

Thanks for your suggestion MoneyGuyBK but it was unsuccessful. BTW I should mention that my taskbar & toolbar are miniaturized as well.

I am no guru, but I think I have a solution.

Get your appropriate driver from this link.

http://wwwp.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-028366.htm

Let me (and others) know if it works.

EDIT: Afer this update, then adjust your display resolution as MoneyGuy describes.
