Basic Programming
Is it possible to do Basic programing with Windows XP? I know it is possible with Windows 98, but I can't seem to get any information for Windows XP XP.

As far as free stuff goes, my personal preference is the Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition from Microsoft, although there are some very good third party tools as well.

I'm kind of new at this sort of thing. I'm not sure what you mean by development suite/tool/language. If by language you mean programming language, I want to use QBasic.
I'm happy to know it can be done. I would appreciate it if you could explain in more detail and in simple terms assuming that I know practically nothing about this stuff.

When you depart from the mainstream programming languages, you generally end up with niche products that become unsupported sometime down the road.
MS offers VB.net Express, here. Read through it and you will see that you can create Windows programs that rival anything out there.

If you want to progrmming in Windows XP , with Visual Studio , you should know Microsoft .Net Framework first then only you can do anything . Here is basic .Net framework help vb.net-informations.com/.../framework_tutorials.htm
Then after you have to select which language you should program , that is Visual Basic and C#. Both are object priented and easy to study. I recommend C# becuse its syntax is very close to Java . try this csharp.net-informations.com , will guide you basics steps.
