Battery level indicator icon

My Dell Inspiron 6000 runs Windows XP SP2. I have always had an icon indicating the battery charge level and alternatively an icon showing connection to mains power located in the bottom left of the screen on the task bar.

Recently I have lost these icons and I cannot find out how to replace them. Please can any Forum members tell me how to get them back.

Thank you
David

Thank you for your reply - but no success - despite checking the box - no icons have appeared

Try start>control panel>power options>advanced>always show icon on task bar.

Right click on start>properties>task bar tab>customize button>under behavior column select "always show"

Check this link.

NOTE: One of the possible solutions involves editing the registry.Exercise caution when dealing with the registry.Always back up before deleting just in case.

The battery indicator will not appear when connected to A.C.

The Battery Icon should turn into the AC Icon when the AC power is connected. This is just like the battery Icon with a power plug next to it.

Try right click start>properties>task bar tab>customize button>in the behavior column there is a drop down menu with three options always show, always hide and hide when inactive.

I now have the power icon  which turns into a battery icon when the mains power is disconnected. My original problem has been resolved but I think I have caused two more in the process.

I cannot "hide" some of the icons, botton right hand corner of task bar, behind an expanding/decreasing facility which seems to have been inadvertantly turned off.

Also my lap top was configured so that by using the Fn key with the F2 key I could turn on and off my wireless connection. A box would appear on the screen with an image of a wireless transmitter - when the service was turned off it would show a red symbol indicating that it was off - when on the symbol would disappear. I now cannot view this icon on the screen although the wireless service works fine.

I have the same problem with the FN key and the battery key F3. I cannot view the status on the screen.

Any advise and help would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Thank you - now have the "show/hide" icons working on the toolbar.

I have "lost" the Dell Quick Set icon- I think I have unwittingly turned it off..... and still cannot view the icons for the Fn/F2 and Fn/F3 keys.

Thank you very much - I have restarted Quick Set - and the icon has reappeared in the task bar. The two keys now work.

I will be more careful henceforth - to avoid a repeat of this problem.
