BELKIN FILE TRANSFER

If I don't have an internet connection left on my old pc, how can I get the driver to transfer the files?  Belkin does not say anything about needing your old pc to have an internet connection.

Start over, what are you trying to do, what models of PC's? What OS's are these PC's?

Belkin what?

I bought a new Dell pc with Vista and am using a Belking Easy File Transfer Cable to transfer all files from the old ASUS pc with XP to the new pc.  The driver was supposed to be included in the disk Belkin sent with the cable, but it seems it needs to take me to the internet from my old pc to do it.  I no longer have an internet connection for my old pc because I replaced everything (including a complicated ethernet connection that I am not savvy with) with my new one.  Only the new pc has the internet connection.

Ok, we are getting somewhere, There are plenty of posta here about these transfer cables being not so Easy. Most people usually find another method to transfer data. Does the old PC have a cd burner?

I used the Belkin file transfer and this is how I did it.

Install the Laplink PCsync software on both PC's.
Connect the USB cable to the old and new computer.
Open the Laplink PC sync software on the Old PC and New PC.
On the new PC, under Connections, click on the right Icon and the files on your old PC will show up on the right window.
Drag and drop the files you wish to transfer over to the new PC.

It's super fast once you figure out the transfer process (yes, it is complicated).  You have 30 days to register the product on both PC's so don't worry right now about connecting to the Internet.  I was able to register my old PC by connecting my cable internet connection from the new PC to the old PC, register, and move the cable back to the new PC.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim.  I'll try it this way first.  My fingers are crossed!

Yes I can.  It seems there is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Thank you.

Yes it does.  I was afraid you were going to say that!  It seems I am not alone.  At least I laughed when I read the alternative.  Thank you.
