Blue Screen error

Hello,

My Dimension 4550 has shut down Windows twice and I've gotten the dreaded blue screen but I need help in determining my next step. Here is the full message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup option, and then select safe mode.

I get a similar blue screen message on shut down.  Mine also says, 'Page Fault in Non Paged Area'.  I spent two hours on phone with Dell Support with no success.  He told me to backup  my data and he would call back.  He never called back. I have to shut down manually and then on next startup the message is 'System has recovered from serious fault.'  It seems that this Page Fault mention would mean something to one who knows more than I do.
