Can Anyone Help With A Windows Media Issue

I have a Dimension 8200.  I am running Windows XP and Windows Media 10.  When I put in DVD's to play, I continue to get the message:  WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE.  I am at a loss of what to do. I want to play DVD's, but it just won't work.

I have re-loaded my CyberLink dvd, and can play DVD's on that, but just wonder why I cannot do this when I am in Windows 10.  Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Media player 10 is still very new and still has a lot of bugs. Try uninstalling and reinstalling this update.

I went back and REMOVED Windows Media 10, then went back and tried to download using Windows Media 9.  I never had a problem with that.  When I tried to do this, I was told I already had an UPDATED version and Media and it would not let me download Media 9.  So then I did a fresh download of Media 10.  When I went to play my DVD, it just sat there, this time without the Error Message, but would not play the DVD.

I do not know what to do from this point.

Here is a thread I saved about problems with WMP 10 and SP2. I don't know if this pertains to you, but here's the link in case:

I hope this helps.
