I know that Photoshop Elements 6 works fine with Vista, I have it on my machine at this moment and it runs great.

But regarding CS2, I think that according to Adobe it is not compatable, for sure the Acrobat 7 component of the suite isn't, not sure about just Photoshop CS2. Their take on the situation is that you need to upgrade to CS3. Not exectly a cost effective option.

I would check Adobe's site to make sure CS2 has all the updates and verify if it is Vista compatable. I know that CS3 is advertised as such.

I have no problem whatsoever running Adobe CS2, including its Acrobat and Distiller on my Vista XPS laptop. I would strongly suggest that you upgrade your RAMs and then check your memory allocation though. Have you uninstall and then reinstall CS2 again?

I have to admit that even with 4gb RAM, I do encounter lockup when running Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign at once though... Imagine not enough memory even with 4gb!!!

Yea, they are all memory hogs, for sure!

I tried it on another inspiron version it worked will with 2GB RAM

one my inspiron 6400

i tried to remove the vista and intstalled XP then tried the program

it worked well with no problems :)

i think that vista consume the memory, so their was no enogh reding memory for the Adobe software.

Do you agree with me?

I guess you're lucky then. We had trouble with version 7 under Vista and according to Adobe it's not supported.

"Acrobat 7.0 and earlier will not support Windows Vista." - http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/vistasupport.html

So if it works for you, you lucked out. :smileyhappy:

No doubt about it, Vista takes up lots more real estate on your hard drive and also takes in a lot more RAMs too. But then, from what I also read online, Vista supposedly takes the memory all to itself and then allocate them 'accordingly' to various applications, i.e. deciding how much to give to Photoshop and such. With the price of RAM modules being so cheap now, I would say it's a no-brainer to invest on them! If you are using Photoshop regularly at all, it would be an extremely wise and necessary investment! I do graphics for a living so I am speaking from years of experience using various versions of Photoshop and Windows OS.

I can not comment on your system though, sorry.
