cant access bios from hibernate resume

hiya,

i'm running XP pro on a Dell Vostro 1200.
When i reboot after hibernation. the startup screen has no mention of the function keys along the bottom (F2 for bios settings. F12 for one time boot menu.... and something else i cant remember)
and pressing these keys does nothing at all to the boot, it goes straight to resuming from hibernation.

If the bios is set to boot from cd/dvd first it will do this, however if no bootable cd/dvd then straight into resume.

I have noticed this previously on other systems and am really curious as to the explanation.

i am curious as to how this happens ?

pineapple,

That would be correct, you cannot access the bios from hibernate, sleep or resume Windows. You MUST shut down the computer or restart it. Press F2 when you see the Splash Screen.

Make sure to have the CD?DVD boot before the Hard Drive(HDD) the other items I have after it, like the USB Ports and network. Some people leave their iPods and printers connected to the computer and sometimes the computer tries to boot from the iPod or the memory card that they left in the printer.
