The ZTE Modem should install itself - it does some kind of trick where it is first detected as a CD or Flash Drive - then the software there runs and installs the device as an actual modem. Try this - rather than looking for drivers somewhere else. Though it is possible with Win 7 this may not work (can't tell you as have not done this on Win 7 but on Vista).
Thanks Guys for your suggestions. I have a desk top, but it is not Dell. I have this seeking software but it looks for updates for the computer it is on. Any ideas where I can get the right driver update?
I was going to return the modem today, but I'll wait and see if I can solve the problem with the assistance of Forums like this.
I am going to say this once: Download the driver to a flash drive at another computer. Take it over to the computer with the ZTE modem. When the computer searches for a driver, direct it to the flash drive.
Copy that and understood. I do that all the time.I have been copying aircraft files to the Dell with success. All I need to find is the correct driver/update for thsi ZTE Modem. I am still looking.
IT WORKS !!. I downloaded the driver from that ZTE Web Site with my desk top onto a stick. Plugged that into my Laptop, ran the install. Now all I have to do is wait till everyone here wakes up so I can register the modem. I have to make a phone call for that.

As suggested above, you shouldn't need to install drivers for it?
Albeit in 'pigeon' English - that's confirmed here:
I'm very surprised Windows 7 doesn't pick it up when you plug it in, and install default drivers straight away?
