Can't upgrade from Win ME to Win 2000. Please help.
I bought a used Dell Latitude CPi that came with Windows ME already installed. However, I am having trouble installing Windows 2000. After transferring the files from the Win 2000 CD, the computer restarts and asks to insert the Windows 2000 CD to complete the installation. However, after clicking continue I receive a message regarding a necessary I386 folder. It asks that I type the path where the file is located. When I click cancel, I receive the following error message: "An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.
Setup failed to install product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information. Press OK to view the setup log file." There's nothing I can do after this point, so now my laptop is stuck in Windows limbo with a partial version of Windows 2000 that is useless. I understand this is an issue that Microsoft addressed on their website, but I wasn't able to fix the problem with their solution. If anyone has any information regarding this issue, please let me know. I would be very happy to hear from you.
THANKS!
