Changes to Drivers and Downloads

Just a recent observation & open to comments

Don’t have any problem with simplifying driver download selection

If I understand the changes correctly, it’s at the Operating System platform filter level, meaning if someone upgrades or changes their OS & it doesn’t appear in the OS dropdown list then they’ve had it?

Rather than uncertainty of correct OS selection, most posts clearly refer to driver confusion as a result of multiple build spec options. And without a working computer, using System Configuration (Original & Current) or 3rd party system scan tools isn’t an option?

For those using DCF to obtain or provide help, it looks more like the change is a reduction in driver support?

Exactly, I whole heartedly agree.

They have done more than simplify, they have removed Vista drivers for older models that were there previously, not really simplification.

Example

the 8400 is very capable of running Vista, the Vista drivers were there before about Oct 10, now they are Gone.

They even removed them for my Dim5150, but now they are back.

Here is my original post about the issue when I first noticed the drivers being pulled.

They are pulling the wool over our eyes and passing it off as an improvement for users to find the correct drivers for their systems, Hogwash!

Hi
I agree Dell is trying to pull the wool over our eyes:smileytongue: but most of us know better it,s
all about the { {money}}
and not to help support the user that can not find a driver for his or her XP\Vista OS !
I mean if they have XP you click XP same for Vista where is the problem in that .

Or, is this anohter way of shifting blame from what used to be excellent Tech Support?{ {YES}}

Just another example of the dumbing down of America.  What ever happened to "researching for a solution"?
