Control/Alt/Delete
I just got a new Dell with Windows XP. On my old one with Windows ME, I used to be able to hit ctrl/alt/delete to shut down if it didn't work the normal way. But now when I computer freezes, pushing that brings up the box to end programs or but I can't always restart or shut it down and it remains frozen. Does pushing ctrl/alt/delete twice not automatically restart the computer on XP??
So how do I restart, am I supposed to just push the power button?

No, pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice will not shut the computer down. If the system locks up you may be able to shut it down by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete once and in the Task Manager go to Shut Down in the menu bar and selecting "Turn Off" or "Restart." Your other option is to hold down the power button for several seconds. XP is designed so that it closes all open applications before it allows the computer to shut down and it takes a few seconds to accomplish this.
