DCOM service problems
HI, i recently needed to do a repair of windows xp on my inspiron 5150. when i tried to boot my computer after, it would take a very long time to get from the "windows is starting up" screen to being able to click the start button. I narrowed the problem down to a service called DCOM server process launcer, because when i disable the service, my computer boots normally. I dont notice any problems but the service is marked as essential so i was wondering if i actually need it or not. when i try to start it manually i eventually get the error:
Could not start the DCOM Server Process Launcher.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Thanks for any help or ideas!

mystryman,
A really good website on Windows services is www.blackviper.com. I've used that site a number of times to go through and turn off services I didn't need.
