Dell Backup & Recovery for Windows 8
Last week I got my new Dell Inspiron 15R SE ordered online from Dell. I have not been able to get any of the features of the Dell Backup & Recovery software. I tried creating a Recovery media with a 16GB USB thumbdrive but the software couldn't recognize the thumbdrive that was in the USB slot. I also tried doing a backup to my NAS, but each time I ran it it just came back with "An error occurred" and then quits. I went to the Dell support site to download the software so I could reinstall it, but the only versions they had available for download were for Windows 7 and earlier. Is there somewhere else where I can get the Windows 8 version of this software?

I suggest you try third party software. I have been unable to get any of the Dell software to back up my laptop either. After spending several hours on the phone with Dell and Microsoft, plus exchanging emails with Dell, I found they do not recognize the issue exists and will refuse to send recovery media since it is not purchased with the computer. Frankly, I would not waste any more time with Dell on this issue.

I seriously suggest you try another backup approach! The Dell software created a perfect shadow or image of the new XPS One I purchased from Dell, first launch, but the iomega external disk, on usb (even after reformatting and checking for faults etc.) soon was "disconnected for too long" or "address error has occurred" . "reconnect drive" was the most frequent onscreen warning despite no disconnection. I am wondering if the power program was actually timing out the usb connection.
It has taken a week to get things moving again on phone and on screen access, the general impression I get is they don't quite know what is wrong and Dell suggested that I upgrade a software that is crashing the system and I pay a subscription for it. No compensation for lost time and the effort after my parting with over £1500 ?? Its running at this moment, dbr software, but after turning it off I don't know why and am seriously considering removing it and going to the external disk company to download their solution.
This is serious with 100's of gigabytes necessary to operate the system let alone your data!

on my dell 7520 se laptop . recovery media lock my other drive and used as oem drive so i lost my data ...
so i dont want to use dell recovery . i asked for windows 8 disk or iso file .
