Dell blue Recovery 2000 CD
After installing Windows 2000 from the Dell BLue recovery CD we found that one of our applications didn't function correctly, after lots of troubleshooting found the problem to be with something missing form that install. When installing windows 2000 form an original Microsoft CD, the application works OK.
Anyone know what is different/missing between the 2 discs ?

Ser XI,
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.
Can you tell us what application this is and if possible, what specifically was missing?

Application is called MP2, which is a purchasing system running on SQL database on NT4 server. If PC is built using either pre-installed OS or the Blue recovery CD then one of the Crystal reports run within MP2 gives the error of 'invalid monetary unit'. If the PC is built from the Microsoft windows 2000 CD the report runs with no errors.
We have tried building the PC with just MP2 & the OS installed but get the same problem. Same drivers are used. Service packs make no difference, so must be something missing or different between the 2 Cd's. Question is, what is different

Ser XI,
There isn't much difference at all. The main differences are things like wallpaper and so on. I wonder if it's different versions of device drivers. Can you contact the software vendor and see if they've ever heard of this.

That's odd and funky...
Did you try maybe slipstreaming SP4 on it and then install?
There are very little differences between Dell OEM and retail.
Dell OEM is missing BOOTDISK folder and has a Dell Bios checker to make sure you are installing in a Dell.

SerXI, did you take a look at the Currency tab under Control Panel/Regional Options? That should be where Crystal Reports gets settings like that.
