Dell DataSafe Online backup

Hey, I have the Dell DataSafe Online backup, and have selected the My Documnets Folder as part of that backup. But I have hidden files in that folder allready in that folder as well. Can anyone tell me if it will still backup them hidden files as well, or well I have to show them first before it will backup? Your thoughts would be appreaciated. Cheers.

Thanks for your respone paindoc. I just need to clarify to you though that I was not sure as although these files are 'hidden' they are still in my documnets, hence my qeustion. Also no, they are not [top secret] files, but are 'hidden' for a reason. And I just thought that it would save me time if I didnt have to go and show them to back em up. Also although you come across as if I should have allready know this that I asked Dell and ven the person I spoke to did not know!!! lol Thanks for your response though.

Yiu answered your own question.  Hidden files srtay hidden.  Unless you work for the CIA, it is safe to change to "show hidden files."

defected_sound,

The hidden files property setting in Windows Explorer is only a "view filter", meaning that it hides from view system and program files that *should* not be edited by the computer user.  Typically only programmers and tech support folks would be interested in viewing them.

If you've selected the Documents category, these hidden files will not be included in the files that are backed up.  The Documents category places priority on backing up files for MS Word, PPT, Excel etc.  However, if you've created a special backup rule in the File/Folder view to backup everything in your My Documents folder, they will be included in the files backed up.

HTH.
