Dell Dimension 8100 error messages during bootup

When rebooting I receive 2 error messages:
 System fan not detected
Primary hard disk drive 1 not found

The system fan was replaced 2 years ago and I just started receiving the primary hard disk drive yesterday after having to format and restore windows XP PRO application.  The computer is working fine but I need to clear these messages.

 Thanks,

 John

How many hard drives are on this machine?

There's just one hard drive on the computer.

Did you reinstall the chipset drivers when you reinstalled the OS?

I honestly couldn't answer that question.  I just formatted the drive and reloaded XP PRO and what ever was on the disc was installed.

Those drivers would have been on your resource disc.  Look in the Product Support area above and hover over Drivers and Downloads and follow the prompts to you machine make and model.

You need:  Chip Set-Video-Audio-network

More than likely you have just the generic Windows version of the last three and more than likely no chip set drivers at all.  Let's try that first.

Here's the link:

We'll worry about flashing the BIOS last.

I went to the web page and looked for the chip set drivers.  I found a message where I could use the resource disk that came with my computer to reload the drivers but when I looked it doesn't have the drivers for  XP PRO.  The system came with ME which I changed out after a year of trouble. Is there any where on Dells page that I can get the drivers for XP PRO and download them.

Open the case and make sure the fan is plugged in and that all connectors between the hard drive, motherboard, and power supply are securely connected.

The Diimension 8100 chipset drivers are native to Windows XP, so you do not have to install the chipset drivers on this computer.  Chipset drivers are only required on later model computers.

 Thanks,

Do you have any other ideas on what to do to remove the error messages?

Steve, That's one of the first things I tried.  Every thing works fine I just need to clear up some error messages when it reboots.  If not I guess I'll be able to live with it.

Thanks
