Dell G7 15 Gaming Laptop problems

My Dell G7 computer is having an issue where it is rejecting any and all mics I plug in and is only using the built in web cam mic.  This started after the audio drivers failed and I had to reinstall them.  Doing so greeted me to a computer with no sound at all, both with and without head set.  Fixed this by reinstalling the drivers again, but ever since that, the computer has refused to use any other mic than the built in webcam mic.  The jack for the headset plugin seems to be alright, and a reinstall of the drivers has been done.  It is still acting up in this way, so any ideas/help is greatly needed.  Thanks! P.S.  I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but this is the first forum that I've seen the option to post to.  Also, something else that may be worth mentioning is the fact that every time I restart the computer, the audio drivers fail and I have to reinstall.  If there is a fix for that, please let me know as well.  Thanks again! When you plug in a headset with the jack fully inserted, you should get a popup window asking what you plugged in..  Are you seeing that?  If not, see if you can open the Waves MaxxAudioPro user interface from the Start Menu or the hidden icons on the Task Bar?  If you can, check the Advanced settings and see if it is set to show the popup.

You can also check the Task Manager and look at the Startup tab.  There should be two Waves type drivers enabled during start.

I have seen a situation where, while installing audio drivers, Windows will jump in and install its version.  Although it may have the same version number as the correct drivers, it may not be fully compatible.  I always like to go offline to uninstall and then reinstall drivers and stay offline until the install is complete.

The OEM dell audio driver will need to be manually re installed.
