No solution posted works,

First bad experience with DELL after owning 8 laptops, I guess this will be my last because their support team sucks, they are not welling to solve the problem. I will try and find a brand with a better support team.

I called DELL & they told me to fix all your software errors we will charge you (GBP) 64 POUNDS.
My laptop is brand new, issues started to show up from the second week.

It's totally their fault & they want to charge me more money. So much for their support & international warranty, pfft. It's worth a nothing. I'm moving to Apple products more reliable & does what it states.

DELL customer support has failed to resolve the issues & provide support.

Time for change.
Bye DELL

Αgree with you. At first my problem seemed fixed but every now and then it crashes. I dont know whether skydrive makes this more dysfunctional. My new inspiron 3537 should not have that much dump files. Thanks again Dell for your support, pfff.

I can confirm this, there are new updates on their site for the 8670 and 8870, and also the HD 4400, install them and sleep/standby is still working, BUT, if you look at the device manager, the dates for the 2 drivers are still pretty old:

HD 8870:
Version: 13.201.0.0 (corresponds with the "new" driver on the Dell site)

Date: 2-10-2013

HD4400:

Version: 10.18.10.3316 (corresponds also with the new driver on the Dell site)

Date: 3-10-2013

I will try to install newer Radeon driver (from the AMD website) to see if the standy keeps functioning then..)

I also made a performance comparizon between 8.1 with Dell drivers and Win 7 with original up to date ones using 3d Marks.... They did quite the same results....

Pubbert, please let us know about your results installing original drivers....

Thanks a lot

Unfortunately, with the new AMD drivers (14.9) from their website, standby isn't working, the performance however is better, guess it's come of to making a choice between standy and performance.

The new AMD driver also renames the HD8870 to R9 M270x.

Driver date: 15-9-2014
Driver version: 14.301.1001.0

The only thing Dell has done in the last year regarding these notebooks, is just relabeling an old AMD driver as "New".

Shame on you Dell

By the way you have to do the same for the Intel HD Graphics after

Hi WILBERTB

I have the exact same problem with my R15 5537 Windows 8.1 system. Dell just came to my office (13/11/2014) and replaced my motherboard... this after several service calls and driver re-installations they decided to put the blame on hardware. Conclusion: they advised me to format my PC and repair Windows cause nothing else solved the problem. I definitely do not want to do this; It's crunch time at work and I need all my software and data to communicate the way it's currently working.

Please tell me you have found a way to solve this issue since your previous post in Feb 2014 ?

FINAL SOLUTION (SOLVED)

You can try this:

1. Uninstall AMD driver

2. Restart computer

3. Install AMD driver

4. Restart computer

5. Then do the same for the Intel HD Graphics http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=C7NDJ

Good luck

You may have found an answer to this already, but I just fixed my problem with the computer requiring the power button to wake from sleep and taking a while. Turn off the Intel Rapid Start Technology. It should be in your notifications box. Once you turn it off your computer will turn on when you open the lid or press the keyboard and mouse. Additionally it will wake from sleep nearly instantly, the way it should have to begin with.
