Dell Inspiron N5050

I did and now my N5050 will not boot up after I installed it.  Very frustrating cause I haven't been able yo use my laptop over a week now.  

I did it and no problems =)

I connected an external screen and it worked well.

I disabled the display adapter (right click on start button --> device manager ---> display adapter --> right click on intel 3000 and click disable) and the native screen worked but  only with very basic settings   

its because the drivers are not compatible with windows 10 

So Win10 is compatible with Dell Inspinor N5050?

I upgraded to windows 10 with my inspiron N5050 and it has twice failed to boot. I would have lost all my documents etc had I not backed up first. had to reinstall install drivers and utilites from disc so lost all subsequently installed programmes and most annoying 5 years of bookmarks which I had not backed up. three weeks later same thing happened again. Rang Dell who said that windows 10 is NOT compatible with inspiron 5050 - however they also told me my PC was dead and I would have to pay £150 for an engineer to replace hard drive. my brother-in-law fixed it with original discs (but he said it took 10 hours), Am currently using windows 10 as brother-in-law installed it but do I trust it - no

Here the same and now waiting untill Dell have solved the problems? Dell let us now please.

I have just fallen into the trap!!!

I trusted Microsoft when it said my N5050 machine was compatible and ready to upgrade to win 10; I went ahead and did it only to get the blank screen problems described by others here.

Fortunately having resorted to advice from some other boards (stackoverflow) I got the idea of connecting an additional screen and that has enabled me to back win10 out returning to win7.

Come on DELL, this was originally raised in August and it is now December; i'm sure there must be many others like myself falling into this trap particularly with the current push Microsoft seem to be making to get people to upgrade from 7 & 8 to 10.

Have you now got supported drivers? if not when will they be available?

I sincerely hope you are not washing your hands on this issue, this is not a particularly old machine and I would reasonable expect appropriate support; if this is not promptly forthcoming it will be the last DELL machine that I purchase.

If Dell hasn't put out drivers for the N5050 then they will not.  As for Microsoft stating your machine is compatible, it only looks at the basic hardware and checks if it has a generic driver for it. If Dell has not received drivers for it, I wouldn't put Windows 10 on the machine.

Yes you can Sandro! I just did and I can do as I please as I did when using windows 7 and 8!
