Hi Abrarahsan,

It seems to be an issue with the operating system. You may run the diagnostics to check the hardware functionality.

To run ‘Dell Diagnostics’

  • Power off the computer
  • Restart the computer, press F12 on the Dell logo
  • Select ‘Diagnostics’ from the boot menu
  • Please refer to the link if any error code shows up http://dell.to/OUGnqT

If diagnostics shows no error, you would need to install the Operating System using the disc.
You may refer to the link on Manual installation of Operating system http://dell.to/Y92ARm

Hope this information helps.

Dell Diagnostics can also, be run from the Drivers and Utilities disc, that was shipped with the computer package.

The Optiplex GX620 has four different versions, Mini Tower, Small Mini Tower, Small Desktop, Desktop and the Small Form Factor.

Which version do you have?

What colour is the power button LED and is it blinking, or solid?

The GX620 has four diagnostic lights labeled "1, 2, 3, and 4" on either the front or back panel, what is their reading?

The graphic shown in your post is the Optiplex GX620 SSF version, not the Mini Tower, but as you posted you have the GX620 MT, I will use that version.

Are there any 'Beeps'?

A solid Yellow power button LED, usually indicates a device on the system board may be faulty or incorrectly installed.

Regards to the four Diagnostic lights, if lights 1-2-3 are lite and 4 is off, is indicates 'An other failure has occurred', this could also include a motherboard failure.

First open the case and check that all the power and data cables are properly connected, by removing and reconnecting them and see if this makes a difference.

No difference and if you are comfortable working around computers, you could try the following:

Note: The only 100% method of testing a PSU, is to install a known working power supply.

Unplug the cord from the power supply, hold the power button in for about 15/20 seconds, open the case, unplug the 24-pin power connector from the motherboard and jump the Green wire to one of the Black wires, reconnect the power cord and power the system on, if power supply, case fans and the hard drive run, then the PSU maybe be good.

Note: Do not remove any wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a jumper.

Power supply checks out and the system still does not work, again remove the power cord, hold the power button in for several seconds to discharge the residue power, reconnect the 24-pin connector to the motherboard.

Remove all the PCI cards, the video card [if applicable], memory, all peripherals, disconnect the data and power cables to all the drives, check that the front panel cable is connected to motherboard, with nothing else connected to the system, reconnect the power cable and power the system on.

If there is no difference in the diagnostic lights, 'Beep' codes and/or the LED indication of the power button, it would appear that the motherboard has died and/or maybe the processor.

Note: The amber LED is the motherboard's 'Standby' Power Light, aka 'Flea Power', only indicates the motherboard has +5VFP power is reaching it and not an indication that the power supply has not failed, or has issues.
