Dell Support 5.0 Application - Where The Heck Is It?

Actually, Dell Support 5.0.0.630 by Gteko, to be precise.

Yes, I've read a number of the posts here about how supposedly unreliable the Dell Support Application is, but I'm still inclined to re-install it anyway, just in case the new 5.0 version has been improved; if it hasn't, then off it comes - however, I still want the option of putting it back on, for however long.

I have a brand-new Inspiron 6000 which I had to reformat to FAT32 for some specific development work, and of course you get virtually no "re-install" CDs with the units these days, so there is no chance of loading it off of one of them (I had to fight like a so-and-so just to get the Win XP Pro SP2 disc which they stiffed me out of when they sent me the unit).

I've done search after search of the Knowledge Base and absolutely nothing comes up for "Dell Support 5" or even "Dell Support 5.0".

Even the few references here to Dell Support 3.0's availability have drawn blanks because the people who mentioned it in their posts haven't provided a link to the proper download site, for some reason.

So, be it a big improvement or a total dud, could someone, anyone, please provide a link for the newest version, 5.0, of the Dell Support program?

And finally, especially since Dell is being so stingy with their Application CDs these days, why are they making it so hard to find these little piddly programs anyway?

You'd think at the very least they would post them up there with the rest of the drivers and what-not for their respective systems; each and every program (or at least the Dell-specific ones) which comes pre-installed on the computer should be available for immediate download from the Dell Support Website.

If anybody has a clue about this, please enlighten the rest of us...

Dell Support 5.0.0.766 today automatically downloaded and installed
in my Dimension 8300 desktop.  It replaced Dell Support 2.1

A few weeks ago Dell notified me that Dell Support 3 would be downloaded.  So I assume that Dell Support 5 has "replaced" Dell Support 3.....

Dell Support 5 appears to be working well.  I have no comments because I have not yet fooled around with it.
