Pudgy,

Thanks for the reply. Is latest Flash Player in latest Java version?

I have the latest Java 9 and IE 8. Had 'em before the problem w/ Dell Support System (the app) not starting/loading all the way.

The D.S.S. version 2.X came loaded on my PC from Dell. It previously worked. Now it won't load completely, just a white empty box w/no buttons.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both D.S.S. versions 2.X & 3.X from Dell website. Same result, neither load all the way.

Any more ideas anybody?

THX

Rick,

My previous D.S.S. circa 2.X had functions like a 'hardware/software installed list' and various tuneup functions, also listed the Dell Service Tag #.

The version you mentioned above doesn't look the same as what appears on Dell website.

I just get a popup box...checking for updates...."No Updates Available"...box goes away. That's it, no other windows or boxes.

???

 burtomr,

This version replaces the other version of Dell Support Center. I think Dell no longer supports the 2.0 version, so that may be the reason for the white screen.

I have this version working with Windows 7 64-bit with no problems. It tells you your service tag number and express code. Looks like this.

Rick,

I have tried to load the latest Dell Support Center App an million times from the Dell website after using Control Panel/Add/Remove Progs to clear out the older  not working version.

D.S.C. doesn't ever show up except the 'Check for Updates' window which pops up and then goes away after the install.

For some reason D.S.C. will not install much less load. BTW - I get no error messages about previous versions during the install.exe run.

After I run the install, no D.S.C. shows up in Start/Programs/Dell.

Is there some leftover piece of the previous D.S.C. that is preventing the install? Searching 'Dell Support Center' finds nothing.

Got any ideas?

THX

Rick,

I called Dell tech help (India). The tech took over my screen and used Start/Run to look at my 'temp' and '%temp%' files.

Then stated it will cost me a couple hundred bucks for him to fix it. I hung up.

Does this give you any clues as to what is wrong? Like a leftover / hungup file?

I don't really know what to do like what file should be deleted to allow install of D.S.C.? (I'm guessing)

Any ideas?

burtomr,

Try looking at...

C:\Program Files

See if there is a folder there. If so, delete it. Also download CCleaner and use the registry tool and see if it removes it from the registry. Save the registry as a backup.

burtomr,

If you cannot locate any folders, give it some time, I contacted a friend with suggestions.

Rick,

I downloaded/ran CCleaner. It analyzed/cleaned everything incl. registry. Seemed like it cleaned out alot of 'temp' files, etc.

Tried downloading Dell Support Center again...

Still the same:  install doesn't installing anything.  Various Q&A boxes come up during the install but nothings there when it's done.

BTW - CCleaner downloaded/installed without a hitch so it can happen, ex: McAfee (security) is not blocking installs.

Please get back to me if you get any other ideas.

Hi Mark,

Once aulauncher has downloaded a partial file, then the installation goes corrupt and it wont proceed untill 'All' the files are deleted.

Lets proceed step by step hopefully this should resolve the problem.

1) Go to Temp Folder (C:\Users\*YOUR USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Temp\), delete everything in this folder.

2) Go to 'C:\Users\*YOUR USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming' delete the 'PCDR' folder.

3) Make sure Dell Support Center is not in the programs and features list.

4) Reload Dell Support Center using this link.

Rick, Telson,

It worked!!!  Finally!

Thanks to everyone for the help.

The 'real' download mentioned above was a healthy 49 MB unlike the one from the Dell website, go figure?

Love you guys XXX

Mark,

Glad Telson could help you out. I didn't know about deleting the other files.

Take care,

Rick
