Dell Support window

I have 2 questions. Whenever the Dell Support window pops up in the lower right hand corner it's showing nothing but the following stuff...nothing I can read:
 ƒ~ u ¡ ‰Q‰F ‹Æ^ÃÌÌÌÌÌÇ ä ‰Qér ÌÌÌÌÌ‹ÿU‹ìVÿu ‹ñèi Ç ä ‰Q‹Æ^] ÌÌÌÌÌ‹ÿU‹ìƒì Q MôèÍÿÿÿh°…‰
I don't find anywhere to change the font or language.
Also, I started downloading the Dell Support Center 2.0 over 12 hour ago and it's still showing that it's downloading. I just have a dial up connection so I realize it's slow. But is this normal for it to be downloading this long? Anything I can do about it?
 Thanks

99% of posts in this forum about Support Center suggest to uninstall it as it's not necessary.

I did just that about a month ago and everything is great :smileyhappy:

Thank you Col. Do you mean to uninstall all of Dell Support or just the 2.0 version?

Mine finally finished downloading but it took around 20 hours! So if I have problems because of it or if it's not needed for anything I may end up uninstalling it as you suggest. I'd like to hear from Dell themselves to know why this program would be necessary.

"I'd like to hear from Dell themselves to know why this program would be necessary." - Good Luck!

As indicated in a previous post, this program does absolutely nothing that you can't do yourself. If you read most of the posts regarding this software, you will see that numerous problems are reported. Bottom line - it is not necessary! Uninstall.

I just spent money to have the new Dell Support program removed from my computer. As soon as I down loaded it, I could no longer access the internet, my computer constantly froze, I could not log off and my computer became excessively slow. When I realized what happened, I could not remove the program with the add/remove feature because it kept saying "fatal error". So, I had to take it to a professional to have the program removed. I would say that for me the program was not at all necessary and was in fact a detriment. Has any one else had the same problems to this extent? Thank you!

Welcome to the club, Kakacurt.

I can only find the fatal error reported when the old version was uninstalled - though it doesn't surprise me that the new one did it to you (unfortunately).   The internet troubles /system freezing / general bad behavior are pretty common - hence the general consensus here to remove it.

I'm sorry you had to pay to have it removed - if you ever run into something like that again, there's a wealth of talent here on the forums that's great for that kind of stuff.
