desktop pic issues

Question

I have xp and my desktop background pic is gone. I have a solid color bg. When I try to change it to a different bg, nothing happens. When I log off or on the pic shows briefly but then goes to solid color. How do I get my desktop back to 'normal'?   Marl

Right click Desktop/Properties/Desktop/Customise Desktop/Web

Uncheck anything in the white box entitled "Web Pages"
Also uncheck "Lock Desktop Items".
Click OK
"Apply"
