Dimension 9100, Philips DVD+-R Vista Issues

Well I did flash the drive to the Benq without issues, but still in the same boat.  Just doesn't read this DVD.  This is on a Sony DVD -R

Will this boot on another machine or startup when you have the current OS loaded? Is this a burned ISO/IMG file from a download or an actual Microsoft DVD?

It will boot up and startup on my Dell Laptop.  I believe this is burned from an ISO.  I'm in the middle of copying it to a Philips DVD +R DVD. 

Try a +R disc instead.

Yes it worked fine with a +R, however, I'm using a Vonage 2 line Wireless router (DLINK DI-624) wired to my PC and am unable to connect.  I'm not finding Vista user friendly at this point.  It did install my network card, but cannot identify the network, I tried Public and Private, any tips?

Get into Device Manager and see if your network interface is ok...ie, the driver is loaded - broadcom, intel, etc.. (assuming your connection to your network isnt via USB to a router)

 

If its good go straight from the cable modem/dsl modem into the PC via ethernet cable, restart the modem... give it 5 then restart the PC.

 

Start, er, Windows Circle - and get a CMD prompt and do ipconfig and let us know what it says...

 

 

Thanks.  For what ever reason it connected right away when I static my pc.  I'm a network admin, and just can not figure out why the router will not issue the ip.  It does on 2 wired xp machines and 1 wireless.  Oh well it works great now.  Vista is very cool and mixed with office 2007 it is a real expirience.

Glad that works, but too bad its not hooking up DHCP... maybe IPV6 support has something to do with it?

 

Running Office07 here too... quite a bit different, especially, Outlook.
