Drivers on Windows XP
I have clean installed Windows XP on my Dimension 8100; from the downloads available it appears I only need to install the video driver (its the only driver with a download for Windows XP). When I try reinstalling the chipset driver from the Dell Resource CD, it won't install. So my question is, how do I find out which drivers need to be installed after installing Windows XP, and which are installed with Windows XP? Thanks a million, pf9461

If are not able to find the drivers for windows xp for your dim 8100 in the support.dell.com web site then
As per my info there is no way to get the drivers.cause dell would not have sold systems(dim 8100) with xp
on it so there are no drivers.

The chipset drivers for the 8100 are native to Windows XP and are installed when Windows XP installs. I recently upgraded to XP on my 8100 and found the only drivers I needed to manually install were those for USB devices that I added to the system after if was purchased and for which I had the drivers disks. Device Manager may show one unsupported device - but that is the useless E-Support button which has no function and is not a problem. There is a way to fix it so the unsupported device doesn't show in Device Manager, but I would have to spend a lot of time finding that solution. (Use the Advanced Forum Search). So far I just ignore that single unsupported device.
