Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
It depends on what video card you are using.
It is easier to do with an ATI card, then with an NVIDIA card.
First thing you should do is get the latest Catalyst or Detonator drivers from the ATI or NVIDIA web page.

Problem:
I cannot extend my taskbar to the second monitor when using the option for "Extended Desktop".
I am using an NVIDIA video card, but remember being able to do this with an ATI video card.
Discussion:
This ability is dependant on your video card manufacturer, and what revision of the drivers you are using.
That is because one of the extended desktop modes that the ATI driver has is to combine the two screens into one large fake screen. (virtual desktop screen)
NVIDIA does not do that -- it uses the standard Windows method (which ATI can also use).
You may be able to get the same type of functionality with the latest NVIDIA retail Detonator drivers.
